20 Years of Magasin 4 | 5 Years Of Cheap Satanism Records

In case you didn't know yet Magasin 4 is simply the best alternative venue in Brussels (Belgium).  Well actually it's the only one. The others have either closed their doors or become really elitist, crappy, mainstream or stupid (delete where not applicable) .

Of course there's Café Central too but it's not really a venue. It's the coolest bar in Brussels before being a venue !

Magasin 4 is also the only place which allows structure like Cheap Satanism Records to exist.   Without it we would have never been able to organize all these events that had let us gain some exposure. There are even people who think we are an important label!

Long story short: Magasin 4 celebrates its 20th birthday this year. The folks behind it have decided to set up plenty of gigs. There will be o.a.  some bands of our catalogue (Germanotta Youth, Vitas Guerulaitis, Baby Fire, Joy As a Toy), bands we've already booked in the past (Part Chimp (yes they're back!), Peter Kernel, Jesus Is My Son, Mongolito)  and bands we are fond of (Marvin, Naplam Death, Zu, Shit and Shine, Child Abuse, Hammerhead, Vandal X, Ripit, Nah...) Take a look at their website to browse the full line-up.

Last but not least they have asked us to support one of their birthday parties. So we've decided to take the opportunity to celebrate our 5th birthday a little bit in advance on September 5th. Yes we'll be 5 years old in October!

The party will take play on September 5th and will bring you the most terrific line-up we've ever been associated ! See for yourself : Peter Kernel, Marvin, Joy As A toy, Le Singe Blanc, Mambo and our faithful Cha!Selektor (Lem, Lady Fucked Up, ex-Baby Fire)IT'S GONNA BE GREAT!

4 years, 4 parties and 1 new website

4 years ago Waltham Holy Cross - the 2nd album of the Brussels-based satanic pop duo Keiki - hit the store. This was the first release of Cheap Satanism Records.

Few weeks ago Cheap Satanism Records released Xin from the Parisian duo Hypo & EDH. This was our 15th release. Between these two records, we've organized almost 40 parties! You can use our agenda as a time machine to browse the history.

Now it's the time to celebrate our 4th birthday with you by inviting you to 4 parties!

The next two weeks we'll be glad to welcome (back) Fuzz Orchestra, The Invisible Frog, Germanotta Youth, Keiki, Antz Up Girls, Martin Bisi, Von Stroheim, The Flying Westmalle Lovers, Enablers, Joy As A Toy, PoiL, Live Footage and Cha!Selektor. Three of them will take place at Café Central and the closing party will take place at Magasin 4.

Last but not least, you might have noticed that we've at last unveiled our new website. It has been a real development hell. We've worked for 6 months on a home-made development we were pretty proud of. Unfortunately the laptop on which we've made this development was stolen. Then we've decided to give a try to some all-in-one services. We've spent a month playing with Limited Run. It certainly looked promising but it required too much template hacking in order to get something that would have looked sexy to us. We've also played with Goodsie which appears too limited and too expensive for us. Then we've discovered Squarespace.com. Honestly it certainly one of the best product we've used for years. It's sexy, dead simple and yet powerful. There are of course some glitches and frustrating limitations but it's definitely worth its price. If you look for hosted web content management with e-commerce capabilities, Squarespace is one of the best option available on the market!

But let's come back to the website. It will be a continuous work in progress during the coming weeks. You can expect more sections, editorial content, sections and more... We'll also plan to add a Distro section to our Squarespace powered web shop where we will sell stuffs from friends we would like to support. So please feel free to come back regularly, add us to your your news reader, follow us on Facebook or Twitter
