The sound and musical pieces that make up "Lowshift" were specially designed for an event called ESPERIANCIA SOCIETY MALL in 2022. Good luck finding any trace of it on social media: there's almost none. This is intentional. Therese likes mystery, a certain discretion, as well as blurring the lines.

Thus, Lowshift could be described as Haunted Dark-Pop. Listening to the work and searching for a flattering comparison, it's COIL from the mid-80s that first comes to mind. Haunted, alright then. Dark too, although... Pop, on the other hand, that remains to be seen. Low Shift is, however, surprisingly less risqué than what the British band offered at the time. And above all, much more feminine.

Behind the idea of Therese, which presents itself as a synthetic entity with two brains, we indeed find ELIANE BLAISE (aka æfv) and EMMANUELLE DE HERICOURT (EDH). On Lowshift, the duo faithfully reconstructed their 2022 live performance, recording it under conditions identical to those of the initial show. It's a sound journey, ranging from darkly contemplative stretches to more melodic, even cheerful compositions.

After training with CHRIS WATSON, the undisputed master of field recording, Éliane Blaise began releasing her compositions in 2013. Since then, she has released several records and developed a plethora of sound installations.

Among her most notable projects are "Drowned Mermaids" (2020) on the NOSTALGIE DE LA BOUE label, the profits of which were donated to AIDS; as well as "Edjmal Moodegi" (2023) on MMLI. She has also composed electronic pieces related to the "Planet Energy" project by YANN TOMA, who is both an artist and an observer at the UN.

With ELISE PIERRE, EMMANUELLE DE HÉRICOURT co-founded the LENTONIA RECORDS label in 2008, dedicated to women in music production. Her first record, "Morgen," was released in 2003 on the Intikrec label in Japan. Her latest album, "Doomed Alizé," dates from 2022, on the POWDERED HEARTS label.

In the meantime, she has continuously produced musical works and sound installations, including the "poste electro" at the Philharmonie de Paris. The most recent, "Vacuum" (2025), in which Éliane Blaise also participated, is a virtual reality experience inviting the public to create hybrid sound monsters.

Les pièces sonores et musicales qui composent "Low Shift" ont été spécialement conçues dans le cadre d'un évènement du nom d'ESPERIANCIA SOCIETY MALL, en 2022. Bonne chance pour en retrouver la trace sur les réseaux : il n'y en a quasi aucune. C'est volontaire. Therese aime le mystère, une certaine discrétion, ainsi que brouiller les pistes.

Ainsi, Low Shift tiendrait de la Haunted Dark-Pop. A l'écoute de l'objet et à la recherche d'une comparaison flatteuse, c'est pourtant au COIL du milieu des années 80 que l'on pense en premier. Hanté, d'accord, donc. Dark aussi, bien que... Pop, par contre, cela reste à voir. Que l'on se rassure, Low Shift est toutefois drôlement moins scabreux que ce que proposaient à l'époque les Britanniques. Et puis, surtout, beaucoup plus féminin.

Derrière l'idée de Therese, qui se présente comme une entité synthétique à deux cerveaux, on retrouve en effet ÉLIANE BLAISE (aka æfv) et EMMANUELLE DE HÉRICOURT (EDH). Sur Low Shift, le duo a fidèlement reconstitué son live de 2022, l'enregistrant dans des conditions identiques à celles de la prestation initiale. C'est un voyage sonore, qui va de plages sombrement contemplatives à des compositions plus mélodiques, voire enjouées.
